On Wednesday 8 August 2012, the Regional Natural Park of Corsica, the University of Corsica and the CNRS organised a themed day on fire risks and the town and country planning of the territory in Letia, Corse-du-Sud, in the San Roccu Church.
Researchers, institutional bodies and firefighters presented their work and offered members of the audience the opportunity to hold discussions in the form of conferences, debates and poster displays. The aim of this event was to raise awareness about the basic and empirical knowledge of forest fires. It has also satisfied strong demand on the part of the population concerning fire safety. Finally, it was fully aligned with the regional challenges faced in Corsica: forest management, and the implementation of risk prevention plans.
