Research activities undertaken within the framework of the "Fire" Project

The research activities I have undertaken since 2004 have included the development of systems based on multimodal stereovision to measure the geometric characteristics (position, speed, height, length, slope, density, surface area and volume) of spreading fires.

The following work was carried out: 

  • Construction of a wildfire fire images database accessible online at: http://cfdb.univ-corse.fr
  • Development of a fire pixel detection algorithm in images in the visual range
  • Development of a fire pixel detection algorithm based on multimodal images (near infrared - in the visual range)
  • Development of a method allowing for a three-dimensional model of the fire front to be obtained based on stereoscopic images.
  • Development of a method of registration of 3D points obtained through stereovision and estimation of fire volume
  • Multidisciplinary work allowing for the improvement and/or validation of the fire behaviour model developed within the scope of the "Fire" Project

Since 2015, research work has been undertaken on the detection, monitoring and measurement of wildland fires by drone.

Supervision of three theses, authorof 16 international publications and participation in 26 international conferences.
